[Dispatch=Reporter Lee Myeong-ju] Director Jo Chul-hyun has passed away after battling cancer. He was 67 years old.
According to the Korean Film Producers Association, Director Jo passed away on the 8th. A wake has been arranged in room 303 of the funeral hall at Korea University Anam Hospital in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul.
Director Jo was a filmmaker who worked across multiple disciplines including film direction, production, adaptation, and screenplay writing. He wrote scripts and participated in production for director Lee Joon-ik's works including "Hwangsanbyeol" and "Sado."
In 2019, he made his directorial debut with "Naratmalsseumi." The film depicted the final eight years of King Sejong, who created Hangul, and starred Song Kang-ho and Park Hae-il.
The funeral procession will take place on the 10th at 7 a.m. The burial site has been set as Seoul Memorial Park.
