[Dispatch=Reporter Park Hye-jin] Musical actors Kim So-hyun and Son Jun-ho are presenting a special song on Hangul Day.
'Palm Tree Island' announced on the 9th that "Kim So-hyun and Son Jun-ho are releasing a new crossover song 'We(We) Great Arirang,' a reinterpretation of Korea's folk song 'Arirang' with modern sensibility and music."
The two will unveil 'We(We) Great Arirang' at noon on this day. It was previously unveiled at their solo concert '2026 Son Jun-ho & Kim So-hyun Concert, Us, Mony?'. They are presenting it as an official music track for Hangul Day.
'We(We) Great Arirang' is a song that portrays 'Arirang,' which has been with our people for many years, by comparing it to a single 'wave.' It captures the image of Arirang extending powerfully into a wider world.
The solid vocal skills and profound expressiveness of the two are anticipated. The crossover music was completed with splendid strings, a grand chorus, and the resonance of diverse traditional Korean instruments.
In particular, the chorus repeated with 'Arirang Arirang Great Arirang' is a characteristic feature. Messages are conveyed through lyrics such as 'from Hallasan to Baekdu, all rise.'
Composer duo Turns Out Unconscious (Kim Gyeong-beom, Kim Ji-hwan) took charge of composition, songwriting, and arrangement of the new song. Session musicians including drummer Shin Seok-cheol, bassist Shin Hyun-gwon, guitarist Lee Sung-ryeol, chorus Kim Hyun-a and Won Hyun-jung, Yung String, and Art Forest participating in traditional Korean instrument performances came together.
