SBS-TV's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Doctor X: The Era of the White Mafia' (written by Pyeon Seong-geun, directed by Lee Jeong-lim, hereafter 'Doctor X') aired its first episode on the 9th.
According to Nielsen Korea, viewership data, the broadcast recorded a national average viewership rating of 11.4%. The peak viewership rating reached 12.9%.
This marks the number one viewership rating for first episodes of miniseries aired this year. Among historic SBS Friday-Saturday dramas, it ranked in the top 7 for first episodes.
The target viewership rating also stands out. The 20-49 viewership rating averaged 3.7%, with a peak of 4.3%. It topped programs broadcast over the past week.
In that broadcast, Gye Su-jung (played by Kim Ji-won) was dispatched to Guseo University Hospital and demonstrated surgical skills that reached godly heights.
It hinted at the activities of a 'medical dark hero.' It raised curiosity with scenes of standing against injustice while doing one's best to save patients.
Kim Ji-won's passionate performance is also a point of anticipation. She portrayed the character who speaks candid words unreservedly to doctors in a three-dimensional and charming manner.
Meanwhile, 'Doctor X' is a refreshing medical noir that depicts the activities of Gye Su-jung, known as 'the mad genius of the operating room.'
