[Dispatch=Reporter Jung Tae-yoon] Actors Lee Jung-eun and Choi Su-young will work together as mother and daughter.
The KBS-2TV new weekend drama "School, I'm Home" (written by Yang Hee-seung and Kim Sun-mi, directed by Lee Woong-hee and Ham Young-geol) announced the casting news on the 13th.
"School, I'm Home" depicts the story of late-blooming college challenge by stay-at-home mom Yoon Ok-hee (played by Lee Jung-eun) and how she becomes a family thicker than blood through unexpected connections.
This is the new work by Yang Hee-seung, a writer who demonstrated the power of relatable characters through "Scandal Class." It marks Yang's return to a KBS weekend drama seven years after "One More Time."
Lee Jung-eun takes on the role of "Yoon Ok-hee." Ok-hee is a passionate mother who challenges herself to enter university late in life for her second act. She is a person who takes charge of all neighborhood matters, boasting plenty of authority, and even runs a street tteokbokki shop, making twenty-four hours in a day feel insufficient.
Lee Jung-eun said, "I have always thought that the writer is excellent at delivering warm comfort within everyday dialogue and pleasant humor. I believe this work will also be a drama that all generations can enjoy and binge-watch together."
Choi Su-young transforms into Ok-hee's daughter "Kang Eun-ho." Eun-ho is a cynical radio producer. She is a person with an extreme "T" personality trait who is not swayed by emotions and views given situations realistically.
She has a sharp and decisive personality that clearly says what needs to be said. On the surface she appears indifferent, but she is a deeply supportive and reliable eldest daughter who cheers for and supports Ok-hee's challenge more than anyone else.
Choi Su-young said, "I am excited and grateful just to work together with writer Yang Hee-seung and senior Lee Jung-eun, who I have been a fan of. I will be meeting viewers throughout the year, so I ask for lots of love and interest."
Lee Sung-jae, Jeon Sung-woo, and Seungyoon complete the pleasant relationship. Lee Sung-jae plays Kang Ji-cheol, a legend in the boxing world and Ok-hee's husband. Ji-cheol faces the biggest turning point of his life due to Ok-hee's challenge.
Lee Sung-jae said, "I am happy to introduce myself for the first time through the KBS weekend drama that has been loved by viewers for a long time. I will work hard to create a good work."
Jeon Sung-woo plays Han Seung-woo, a long-time friend of Eun-ho and the flagship announcer of KMS broadcasting station. Seung-woo is smart and witty, a "capable worker."
He is the only friend to whom Eun-ho has opened her heart. An unexpected incident brings change to their friendship. Jeon Sung-woo said, "This is my second collaboration with writer Yang Hee-seung. I will do my best to create a happy work."
Finally, Seungyoon takes on the role of problematic eldest son "Jun." Jun has maxed-out pretense and audacity, but possesses unexpected charm as someone who oddly draws attention and has lots of affection.
He dreams of a life reversal by planning to launch a "boxing diet program" at his father's boxing gym. Seungyoon said, "I have been waiting for the moment to act within a story that smells of humanity. I am even more anticipating it because I think my mother will gain strength from watching it."
"School, I'm Home" is scheduled to air in the first half of next year following "Love Arrives."
