[Dispatch=Park Hye-jin Reporter] Figure skater Cha Jun-hwan (24) is temporarily suspending his athletic career.
On the 12th, Cha Jun-hwan announced on SNS, "After much deliberation, I have decided not to continue national team activities and competition participation this season."
Cha Jun-hwan was invited to the 2026-2027 International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix Series third event "Cup of China" and the sixth event "NHK Trophy."
He also concluded his contract with Seoul City Hall. As a result, it appears he will not compete in two Grand Prix Series events this season.
Cha Jun-hwan said, "After finishing last season, I had many thoughts and considerations," and added, "I will do my best with the tasks given to me now and carefully deliberate on how to move forward."
He concluded by saying, "I sincerely thank Seoul City and the Seoul City Hall officials who have believed in and supported me," and "I am grateful to everyone. I will greet you all with a good appearance in the future."
Cha Jun-hwan signed with Fantagio in April. Subsequently, he appeared in the musical-format ice show "Solo Leveling on Ice."
Last month, he also appeared in Roy Kim's "Sparkle" music video. He has begun full-scale acting activities. It appears he will pause his athletic career for the time being and focus on entertainment activities.
