'Jisoku Club', October's Band…Melon's Artist of the Month

[Dispatch=Lee Myeong-ju] Band 'jisokuryClub' has been selected as the artist of October.

Kakao Entertainment announced on the 13th that "jisokuryClub has been selected as the artist of this month for Melon's indie music revitalization project 'Track Zero.'"

jisokuryClub is a band formed by vocalist Jeong Ji-seok along with Kim Hong-bi (bass), Park Eun-bin (keyboards), Shin Jae-hwan (guitar), Moon Jung-hwan (drums), and Kim Ha-jin (lyricist).

They released their first EP 'Orientation' in 2022 and began full-fledged activities. Six months after their formation, they won the grand prize in EBS's 'Hello Rookie of the Year.'

The members described the band's music with the keyword 'naturalness without force.' Jeong Ji-seok said, "A lot of our music starts from a rebellious spirit."

"I have a contrarian nature. Things that people find cool, I don't find cool. I always think, what if we do things that people say aren't cool—wouldn't that be cool?"

Kim Hong-bi also said, "There are tens of thousands of bass lines and rhythms, so why should we play conventional ones? I want to create a bass line that only I play."

This musical color extends to their own genre 'Fishing Pop.' It was named after the preferences of members who enjoy fishing and camping.

jisokuryClub made a comeback with their first full-length album 'Koh Larn' on the 27th of last month. The album title was taken from a trip to Thailand last winter.

Jeong Ji-seok said, "Since we were poor, there were friends who were going overseas for the first time," and explained it was "a place where we deeply discussed our musical direction."

In the initial planning stage it was four tracks, but a total of nine tracks were included. Shin Jae-hwan was confident, saying "(This album) encompasses everything we wanted to try."

Meanwhile, Melon's 'Track Zero' is a project that started to revitalize indie music. It announces the artist of the month and recommended new songs of the month every month.
