"This is a first-time (bro)mance"…Lim Si-wan X Seol In-ah, the twist of 'Guilty人'
by. Hanuel Yoo

[Dispatch=Reporter Yuha Haneul] "I experienced both bromance and romance at the same time. It was a new challenge for me." (Lim Si-wan)

A woman protecting and a man being protected. We flipped the familiar romance formula. To this, we added the setting of a cross-dressing woman and mystery surrounding a murder case. The birth of a different (bro)mance was anticipated.

tvN's new Monday-Tuesday drama 'My Guilty Human' held an online production presentation on the 14th. Actors Lim Si-wan, Seol In-ah, Kim Jung-hyun, Yeon-woo, and director Park Dan-hee attended.

'My Guilty Human' is a romance thriller. It depicts the story of a chaebol heir who is named as the primary suspect in a murder case and a detective who goes undercover as his attendant to find the real culprit.

Lim Si-wan plays Yun Yi-Jun, a chaebol heir. He is a managing director of Taegang Group, the nation's top company and a promising successor. One day he becomes embroiled in a murder case and is branded as a primary suspect.

Yun Yi-Jun is a person with an arrogant, prickly and sensitive personality. Lim Si-wan hinted, "He is a person with many secrets. Various incidents and stories unfold around Yun Yi-Jun."

Lim Si-wan focused on the character's past. He said, "He has lived doing only what he had to do. Then he gradually goes astray," and described him as "(metaphorically) a sharp and pointy cat."

He also put effort into his appearance. He tried to reveal inner emptiness through luxurious styling. Lim Si-wan recalled, "Usually the lonelier you are, the more lavishly you dress yourself up. I changed costumes more than any other work I've appeared in so far."

Seol In-ah plays detective Kang Jae-hee. She is a former non-commissioned officer of the Army Special Warfare Command with a sense of duty and justice. She goes undercover disguised as Yun Yi-Jun's attendant to find the real culprit in the murder case.

She boldly cut her hair short for the cross-dressing female role. She said, "The short-cut styling felt unfamiliar and awkward at first," but added, "It was a good opportunity to discover a new side of myself."

Seol In-ah said, "I focused on the essence of the character rather than speech patterns or the way of walking," and pointed out, "Short hair was also one of the elements that showed Kang Jae-hee's personality of being absorbed in work."

Lim Si-wan also expressed amazement at Seol In-ah's transformation. He recalled, "The moment she first appeared stands out in my memory. Her hair was just cut, but it already felt like the character Kang Jae-hee was walking in."

The viewing point is the two's skillful action chemistry. Seol In-ah said, "She had to look like someone already trained," emphasizing, "I let go of the greed to do it well."

Director Park praised Seol In-ah's action skills highly. He said, "I've never seen an actor who does better than the action team," and marveled, "There were movements we thought would be impossible when we coordinated the choreography with the martial arts director in advance. As soon as Seol In-ah arrived on set, she pulled them off."

The actors burned with passion for the project. Director Park recalled, "We went through multiple script readings over three months. I wondered if we could do this much," and said, "The actors' chemistry matched that well."

Director Park expressed gratitude, saying, "Seol In-ah was seriously injured during action filming and went to the emergency room. But she came back in an hour and finished the remaining filming."

The greatest viewing point is the unique (bro)mance. It added the setting of a cross-dressing woman to the reverse cliché structure of a woman protecting a man.

It was a new challenge for Lim Si-wan. He plays a character who experiences both bromance and romance. "This is my first time seriously tackling bromance. I was able to think deeply about the genre, at least indirectly," he said.

Seol In-ah pointed out the subtle emotions of the relationship. "Yun Yi-Jun is confused about whether he likes Kang Jae-hee (the woman) or the attendant (the man)," and said, "Still, I hope you would see it more as romance than bromance."

Space was actively utilized. In particular, Yun Yi-Jun's house is an important device that shows the character's inner self. Director Park explained, "The indoor garden in the house and each room symbolize Yun Yi-Jun's heart. It is a space that is both luxurious and secretive."

He continued, "As Kang Jae-hee enters that space, Yun Yi-Jun's heart opens one by one. Please watch the process through which Yun Yi-Jun comes to open his heart to Kang Jae-hee."

'My Guilty Human' airs its first episode on the 19th at 8:50 p.m.
