[Dispatch=Park Hye-jin] Police protective measures for actor Yoo Hae-jin have been lifted.
Seoul Police Commissioner Go Beom-seok revealed at a National Assembly Administrative Safety Committee audit of the Seoul Police Agency on the 15th that "(Yoo Hae-jin's side) requested protective measure cancellation the day before yesterday, so we lifted it."
On the 6th, the Seoul Seongbuk Police Station issued a smart watch to Yoo Hae-jin at the request of his agency. Measures including registration with the 112 system and enhanced patrols around his residence were implemented.
Yoo Hae-jin appeared in the film "Assassin(s)" (directed by Hur Jin-ho) in the role of detective Park Chul-gu. The film became embroiled in controversy over historical distortion, and the actor faced threats to his safety.
A condemnation rally by a conservative group was held in front of his residence. Ahead of offline events, threatening remarks continued online.
Rep. Kang Myung-gu of the People Power Party compared the police response regarding Yoo Hae-jin's protective measures to a murder case and pointed out differences with ordinary citizens.
The police commissioner explained, "We did not provide special treatment because he is an actor," and "we implemented protective measures following deliberation based on the agency's request for safety measures."
