[Dispatch=Reporter Lee Myung-ju] Another record for itself. 'Doctor X' set its own highest viewership ratings four consecutive times.
SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Doctor X: The Era of White Mafia' (Screenplay by Pyun Sung-geun, Directed by Lee Jung-lim, hereinafter 'Doctor X') aired episodes 3 and 4 on the 17th and 18th.
Both episodes surpassed the previous episodes' viewership ratings. According to Nielsen Korea, episode 3 achieved a nationwide average viewership rating of 15.1%, and episode 4 recorded 18.5%.
In particular, episode 4 recorded a peak viewership rating of 20.8%. This figure corresponds to the number one position not only among programs broadcast at the same time slot but among all weekly miniseries.
The target viewership rating of the 20-49 age group is also achieving its own best performance each episode. The 20-49 viewership rating started at 3.7% in episode 1 and surpassed 5.9% in episode 4.
The broadcast included scenes of Gae Soo-jung (played by Kim Ji-won) preventing a tragic death of an in-house staff member and Na Dae-il (played by Jang Seung-jo) appearing as a new surgeon.
The confrontation between Gae Soo-jung and Na Dae-il maximized the suspense. Gae Soo-jung showed wariness toward Na Dae-il, who displayed persistently keen interest in her.
His ugly true nature was also revealed. While Gae Soo-jung was performing surgery, circumstances were discovered where Na Dae-il had inserted initials between patients he had previously operated on.
The past between Gae Soo-jung and Jang Hee-sook (played by Lee Jung-eun) also added to curiosity. A tragic scene and crying moment that the two people experienced during the time they were engaged in medical volunteer work were depicted.
Meanwhile, 'Doctor X' is a refreshing medical noir that depicts the activities of Gae Soo-jung, known as the 'crazy genius of the operating room.'
