Jeonghan X Joshua, New Album D-Day… "A Dream Journey with Carats"

[Dispatch=Lee Myeong-ju Reporter] "We hope you will join us on a journey where fantasy and reality intertwine."

SEVENTEEN's new unit Jeonghan X Joshua is releasing its first mini album.

Jeonghan X Joshua will release their first mini album 'DREAMSCAPE' on various music platforms on the 19th at 6 p.m. The album deals with 'dream-waking,' which dissolves the boundary between dreams and dreams.

The title track is '12 o'clock.' It is a song about pursuing the object of one's dreams while going back and forth between 12 noon and 12 midnight. It reinterprets 1970s-80s disco funk.

The music video teaser has a surreal atmosphere. A train wrapped in snake scales and a picturesque meadow create a strange harmony. Anticipation for the full video has been maximized.

<The following is a Q&A with Jeonghan X Joshua>

Q. Your feelings about the release of the first mini album.

Jeonghan: I feel most proud. Since this is an album we're releasing after a long time, we prepared it while thinking about what new things we could show CARAT. Since this is our first album activity after our return, we are a bit nervous, but more than that, we want to meet with our fans as soon as possible.

Joshua: I'm very excited and looking forward to it because I think we'll be able to show a different side than when we do group activities. While preparing the album, I gained new passion and dreams. It was a time of good stimulation for myself as well.

Q. What to appreciate about the title track '12 o'clock.'

Joshua: I think it's an even better song when you see the performance. We're preparing choreography that brings out our visuals and chemistry well. We want to deliver exciting and joyful energy to you through '12 o'clock.'

Jeonghan: I watched the song go through the completion process from the band track to now. That's how much affection I have for this song. I played it for the members beforehand, and they all said it was so good and that it suits us well.

Q. The part you paid the most attention to while preparing the album.

Jeonghan: Since there have been many units shown as SEVENTEEN, I think we paid the most attention to showing a differentiated look unique to Jeonghan X Joshua. Joshua and I put our heads together and thought about what concept and genre would be good, and we prepared the album while having many conversations with the staff.

Joshua: That's right. We thought it was important to contain our own unique color that is different from other units. I participated actively in the production process as well. Not all the songs I worked on were included, but I'm happy that satisfying music is contained in it.

Q. Ways to fully appreciate 'DREAMSCAPE.'

Jeonghan: We prepared it hoping that the seven tracks would feel like one story. Within that, if you interpret what each song means in your own way and search for hidden metaphors one by one, I think you'll be able to enjoy the album even more richly.

Joshua: Since the album contains a story where the dreams you have while sleeping and the dreams you want to achieve in reality meet, there are elements throughout that seem to intertwine fantasy and reality. I hope you'll pay careful attention to that. It would also be fun if you listened straight through from the first track to the last track while thinking that you're embarking on a dream journey with us!

Q. Both of you are members of SEVENTEEN's vocal team. Is there anything you challenged as vocalists?

Jeonghan: First of all, I remember trying to use a thicker sound than usual. With the desire to continue showing growth, I think we tried various approaches to each song.

Joshua: I also recorded while researching myself to create a more mature and different feel than usual. You'll know when you listen to the album directly. (laughs) Please listen to it a lot!

Q. The other person's strengths you felt while preparing the album.

Jeonghan: Joshua is a cool friend who is developing and finding his own musical color. We entered as trainees around the same time, and it seems we became a relationship where we lean on each other and give and receive strength. When things are tough or worries come up, we confide in each other too.

Joshua: I also felt a lot of Jeonghan's love while preparing the album. (laughs) I think the teamwork we've built through spending long times together has been wholly contained in the album. You'll be able to encounter a natural side of us that fans may not know about.

Q. A word to the fans who have been waiting for the album.

Jeonghan: It's our comeback after a long time. I'm excited and looking forward to it as much as CARAT is expecting. We put a lot of effort and sincerity into showing you a good image, so please look favorably on this activity. Hanni love!

Joshua: It's an album we worked hard on to show our new side, so I'm curious how CARAT will feel when they listen to it. Thank you for always supporting us, and we have a concert coming up, so please keep watching. We love you.
