[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju Reporter] A drama starring actor Ha Young has been pushed back from its original broadcast schedule.
An SBS official stated on the 19th to Dispatch, "It is correct that the scheduling of 'Odds of Winning' has been adjusted." It was set to air in February next year, but has ultimately fallen through.
Whether it will air at all remains unclear. The official took a cautious stance, saying "Given that numerous staff and cast members worked on the production together, we are considering various options."
'Odds of Winning' was an anticipated work continuing the lineage of SBS's "cider" genre. The story involves a senior manager taking on a massive law firm, with Lee Jae-hoon and Ha Young cast in the roles.
However, pro-Japanese suspicions surrounding Ha Young's great-grandfather An Sang-ho spread in August. An Sang-ho was the first Korean to obtain a Japanese medical license.
He was also included in the list of councilors for the pro-Japanese organization "Taishō Shinboku-kai." He was introduced as an icon of "日鮮同化" (assimilation of Japan and Korea) in the Maeil Sinbo, which was an official publication of the Japanese Government-General.
Ha Young apologized through a handwritten letter as the controversy continued. She said, "In my ignorance, I spoke of my great-grandfather's story with pride," and "I apologize as a descendant."
She also withdrew from Netflix's series 'Severe Trauma Center' seasons 2 and 3. In the case of 'Odds of Winning,' filming was already nearly complete. The remaining shoots were finished.
Meanwhile, the vacancy left by 'Odds of Winning' will be filled by 'Full Count' starring Kim Rae-won.
