[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju Reporter] The film series 'Along with the Gods' returns with its third installment.
Comprehensive content company 'Dexter Studios' announced on the 20th that "'Along with the Gods - Life and Death' (Director Kim Yong-hwa) is in preparation targeting a second-half 2027 production kickoff."
'Along with the Gods - Life and Death' is a sequel to the 'Along with the Gods' series, which achieved the first dual 20-million audience milestone in Korean cinema history. It was adapted from the webcomic of the same name by cartoonist Joo Ho-min.
The first installment 'Along with the Gods - Sin and Punishment' depicted the story of the deceased undergoing trial in seven hells over 49 days with three underworld grim reapers. It was watched by 14.41 million people.
The second installment 'Along with the Gods - Intimate Strangers' is a story about a 1,000-year-old secret spanning the living world and the underworld, present and past. It continued its success with a cumulative audience of 12.27 million people.
The new series will cover the story in 'Gucheon' (九天). This is a space where spirits unable to move on to the afterlife due to lingering attachments in death remain.
An official explained, "The process will unfold as the protagonist, who has stopped between life and death, crosses nine worlds searching for a song they could never sing."
Meanwhile, Dexter Studios is the company that handled visual special effects (VFX) for the 'Along with the Gods' series. It is also participating as an investor in the third installment production project.
