[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju] Actress Kim Hee-sun is making a return to home television.
Kim Hee-sun is set to appear in the new MBC-TV drama "The Wife" (written by Jeong Ryeo-ju). The network is currently coordinating for first-half airing next year. She has been offered the lead role of Eun Yeop-sae.
Her agency, Hinge Entertainment, told Dispatch on the 20th, "It is true that Kim Hee-sun received an offer to appear in 'The Wife' and is reviewing it. However, it has not reached the final confirmation stage."
"The Wife" is a suspense drama. It tells the story of a woman who steals the lives of others to survive. It was a prize-winning work selected in the 2022 KBS Drama Miniseries Script Competition.
Kim Hee-sun has been mentioned for the role of Eun Yeop-sae. She is a talented graduate of Korea's most prestigious university with a seemingly perfect life in terms of family background and appearance, but she harbors secrets tied to her past.
Ko Soo is a strong contender for her counterpart role. If both confirm their appearances, they will reunite for the first time in approximately 24 years. The two appeared in the 2003 drama "Be Strong, Geum-soon."
In 2024, Kim Hee-sun achieved another rediscovery in her acting career through "Our, Home." She played a psychotherapist facing confusion before shocking family secrets.
Through this new work, she will show a fresh side never seen before. She takes on a challenge in a genre piece based on Ripley Syndrome, displaying emotionally nuanced character work.
Meanwhile, "The Wife" is in preparation targeting first-half broadcast next year.
