[Dispatch=Lee Myung-joo Reporter] The film "Potential Love" (Director Lee Chang-dong) has released its final trailer ahead of its Netflix premiere.
The video runs approximately 2 minutes and 15 seconds. It opens with a scene of Mi-ok (Jeon Do-yeon) singing "I Know Nothing But Love." She is smiling, but appears somewhat forlorn.
She speaks of her husband Ho-seok (Seol Kyung-gu) saying, "There's something inside him, and he's afraid to pull it out." It evokes thoughts of Ho-seok's difficult times.
Yeji (Cho Yeo-jeong), upon seeing Mi-ok in tears, appears moved, her eyes sparkling. As a documentary director, it raises questions about her true feelings.
A scene showing Mi-ok and Yeji growing closer beyond the relationship of interview subjects also appears. However, complexity in their feelings emerges as they observe the couple of Sang-woo (Jo In-sung) and Yeji.
Scenes of Yeji's proposal for a joint vacation, a visit to a villa, and the past of Mi-ok and Ho-seok intersecting add to the curiosity of what kind of impact this couple's meeting will have.
The trailer also includes praise from critics worldwide. "Indiewire" gave the film its highest rating, calling it "a breathtakingly wondrous work by Lee Chang-dong."
"New York Magazine" praised it as "a film that will endure beyond the ages." "Variety" also called it "the brilliant and profound resonance of the greatest living director."
The film has also won multiple awards. It became the first Korean film to win the Jury Prize at the Venice International Film Festival. It also received the TIFF Ebert Director Award at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Meanwhile, "Potential Love" will be available on Netflix on the 6th of next month.
