[Dispatch=Reporter Lee Myung-joo] Red Velvet's Joy (30, real name Park Su-young) is returning to home screens as an actress.
Joy will appear in the new Tving drama "Unique Romance" (screenplay by Jeon Hyun-mi, directed by Kim Jin-young), which premieres next month on the 9th. She will play opposite actor Hyunjin in a romance role.
"Unique Romance" is an adaptation of a webtoon of the same name. It tells the story of an ordinary job seeker who becomes a celebrity manager and a top star hiding pain from stalking.
Joy took on the role of job seeker Gong Yu-il. The character garnered much attention in the past for the novel "Byeol-i and Half Moon," but suddenly declared a hiatus from writing and focused solely on job preparation.
Hyunjin plays the counterpart role of Tak Mu-i. A highly popular top star who was an avid fan of "Byeol-i and Half Moon." Upon learning of Yuil's secret, he approaches her boldly.
A representative said, "Joy's lovely and vibrant charm and Hyunjin's warm energy will come together to deliver a 'unique' thrill," expressing anticipation.
Meanwhile, "Unique Romance" will be exclusively released on Tving, Viu, and ABEMA.
