[Dispatch=Reporter Lee Myung-ju] BTS has released a music video that has surpassed 200 million views.
According to BIGHIT MUSIC, the music video for '2.0' surpassed 200 million cumulative views on the 22nd. This came six months after its initial release on April 2.
This is the first time a music video from the b-side tracks of the regular fifth album 'Arirang' has exceeded 200 million views. The title tracks 'Swim' and 'Hooligan' also each reached 100 million views.
The music video paid homage to director Park Chan-wook's film 'Oldboy'. The one-take technique filmed against a narrow hallway background evokes the 'hammer scene'.
Comic elements contrasting with the noir atmosphere are also noteworthy. The members' lighthearted performances and props such as a claw hammer, a taegeuk fan, and a danso flute delivered a twist in fun.
The spatial composition evokes their own journey. It begins with a shabby elevator and concludes at a penthouse. It hints at a new turning point.
'2.0' is a hip-hop trap genre impressive for its irregular rhythm. The lyrics metaphorize BTS entering a new phase after undergoing change and growth.
Meanwhile, BTS is carrying out their world tour 'Arirang'. They will perform on the 28th and 30-31st at Estádio do Morumbi in São Paulo.
