[Dispatch=Yuha] The bereaved family of the late Kim Sae-ron and related individuals have been transferred to the prosecution.
Gold Medallist reported the results of a police investigation into complaints and reports filed against the bereaved family of the late Kim Sae-ron and a "fake aunt," among others.
Police determined that the charges against related parties who participated in spreading false information were valid and transferred them to the prosecution. Previously, Kim Se-ui from 'Gaseyeon' was indicted in custody in June.
The transfer targets included the deceased's mother and an individual impersonating her aunt. They were charged with violations of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation through false facts), violations of the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (distribution of footage taken using cameras, etc.), and attempted coercion.
Park Bu-ji-seok, a lawyer for the bereaved family, and YouTuber Kwon Young-chan were also transferred to the prosecution. The two are suspected of leading two press conferences using false and fabricated materials.
Lawyer Park Bu-ji-seok was charged with defamation under the Criminal Act and violations of the Information and Communications Network Act (defamation through false facts). Kwon Young-chan was transferred on suspicion of violating the Sexual Violence Punishment Act (distribution of footage taken using cameras, etc.).
Gold Medallist said, "We deeply appreciate the efforts of the investigative authorities in uncovering the substance of the crimes and those involved based on vast materials and objective evidence."
Meanwhile, Kim Soo-hyun became embroiled in allegations last March that he dated the late Kim Sae-ron since her time as a minor. Kim Soo-hyun's side countered that they dated after she became an adult.
The bereaved family filed a complaint against Kim Soo-hyun on suspicion of violating the Child Welfare Act. Police made a decision not to transfer the case in July, citing insufficient evidence.
