[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju reporter] BTS's RM has brought energy to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) through an exhibition of his collection.
British outlet The Guardian published an article on the 25th (Korean time) titled "Fans flock to San Francisco to see BTS star RM exhibition."
RM's collaborative collection exhibition with SFMOMA was covered substantially. It is the "RM X SFMOMA: Between You and Me" exhibition that opened early this month.
He received the project proposal from SFMOMA while serving in the military. RM arranged 142 pieces of paintings and sculptures he collected, along with 36 pieces from the museum's collection.
Response to this exhibition has been enthusiastic. The media reported, "Exhibition tickets sold over 66,000 copies. The advance booking rate is six times higher compared to the museum's past exhibitions."
In particular, ARMY (the fandom name) showed great interest. "RM X SFMOMA" exhibition-related merchandise sold at the museum store and online shop sold out in about three hours.
Above all, RM's exhibition has provided significant support to the financially strained museum. SFMOMA posted a 5 million dollar (approximately 6.6 billion won) deficit last year and reduced its workforce.
Meanwhile, BTS, to which RM belongs, is conducting a world tour "Arirang." The group will continue performances in São Paulo, Brazil on the 28th and 30-31st.
