[Dispatch=Reporter Jung Tae-yoon] KATSEYE is set to headline Lollapalooza India.
HYBE-Geffen Records announced on the 28th, "KATSEYE will perform at 'Lollapalooza India 2027' held on January 23-24 next year at Mahalakshmi Racecourse in Mumbai, India. The performance date is the 24th, the festival's second day."
Lollapalooza is a major music festival that began in the United States in 1991 and has expanded to various regions in South America, Europe, and Asia. The India event was first held in 2023. Next year marks its fifth edition.
Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Olivia Dean, American rock band Limp Bizkit, Irish band Fontaines D.C., and other world-renowned musicians will take the stage as headliners. Around 40 teams will showcase performances of diverse genres across four stages.
KATSEYE is expected to expand the popularity it has built primarily in the United States and Europe to India, which has a population of approximately 1.4 billion. The stage holds special significance for member Lara, an Indian-American member, as it is in the country where her roots lie.
KATSEYE has strengthened its influence in the global music market with consecutive strong performances on the U.S. Billboard charts this year. Following their third EP 'WILD' released in August reaching the top of the 'Billboard 200,' it recorded 39th place on the latest chart (as of October 31).
The pre-release track 'Animal' reached 30th place on the 'Hot 100' this week, charting for 13 consecutive weeks. On 'Pop Airplay,' which tallies radio broadcasts in the U.S., it set its own highest ranking at 8th place.
The group is also maintaining steady performance in album sales. On 'Top Album Sales,' 'WILD' charted at 13th, 'SIS' at 24th, and 'Beautiful Chaos' at 42nd.
Meanwhile, KATSEYE is currently conducting 'The Wild World Tour' in North America.
