[Dispatch=Kim Ji-ho Reporter] JYP Entertainment has issued a statement regarding a Japanese investment group's declaration of stake acquisition. The company drew a line, stating that the email sent by the other party was classified as spam and was not even confirmed.
JYP stated on the 29th, "Regarding the acquisition proposal reported recently, we have not officially received or reviewed any valid proposal."
The other parties are Japanese investment group 'The Nexrock Group' and its affiliate 'SVCV'. Nexrock announced through a press release on the 26th that it is "reviewing a plan to conduct a public tender offer for 25-50.5% of JYP's issued shares." It also notified that it had sent a proposal to JYP.
The stock price immediately responded. JYP's aftermarket stock price surged more than 14%. On the following day, the 27th, JYP responded through a public notice, stating "there has been no proposal received regarding stake acquisition."
JYP's position is that it did not even receive the email sent by Nexrock. However, through confirmation via JYP's email service provider, the email was classified as spam, the company said.
JYP stated, "The email was classified as 'overt spam' under security policy, failing to meet the sender credibility standard, which is a criterion where the company cannot confirm receipt records," and added "it did not reach the company and was forcibly blocked."
