[Dispatch=Myeong-ju Lee] Hive has apologized over personal information leaks resulting from hacking of its internal systems.
On the 2nd, Hive displayed a popup on its homepage titled "Apology and Notice Regarding Personal Information Leaks." The company has identified circumstances in which personal information of former and current executives and employees was leaked.
The leaked items include names and resident registration numbers, passport numbers, account numbers, phone numbers, email addresses, and addresses of Hive employees. Information of some partner company officials was also compromised.
The incident was discovered during Hive's internal security check. There was abnormal access to a document preview solution from an external vendor linked to the electronic approval system.
Upon further investigation, a similar issue was found in the expense processing system. Some internal documents and personal information stored in both systems were confirmed to have been leaked externally.
Hive stated, "We deeply apologize for causing concern due to the personal information leak," and added, "We will prevent similar incidents from recurring through improvements to our security system."
Those who have suffered tangible or intangible damages from this incident can claim compensation and statutory damages. It is also possible to file a dispute resolution application with the Personal Information Dispute Resolution Committee.
