[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju reporter] SEVENTEEN's agency has taken steps to protect members' rights and interests. The company announced legal action against defamation.
Pledis Entertainment posted a notice titled "Notice on Legal Response Regarding Artist Rights Infringement" on Weverse, a global fan communication platform, on the 2nd.
The company warned against illegal acts including malicious slander, personal attacks, and spread of false information directed at members, recently spreading mainly through SNS and online communities.
In particular, defamation targeting members currently serving in the military is severe. The agency expressed concern, stating it is "a serious matter that could harm the stable military service environment."
Pledis is collecting evidence of related posts and malicious comments. If illegality is confirmed, the company will take all measures including civil and criminal legal action.
SNS accounts based overseas are also subject to this. The company emphasized, "Even if posts or accounts are deleted, we will take legal action based on evidence we have already secured."
For posts containing malicious ridicule and slander, not only the original creator and poster but also those who spread it will face punishment. The company will apply a zero-tolerance principle.
Finally, the company promised, "Going forward, we will prioritize protecting artist reputation and rights interests," and "We will actively respond to protect artists."
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN has continued military service since 2024. Among the 13 members, 9 have completed or are currently fulfilling their military obligations.
