"Japan Debut, I'm Excited and Happy"…Baby DONT Cry, Comeback Q&A

[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju] "We will work hard to introduce our music and charm to more fans."

Baby DONT Cry is expanding into the Japanese market beyond Korea. On the 4th, they are releasing a new digital single "Replay" in both Korea and Japan.

"Replay" is a new song being unveiled ahead of their official Japanese debut next year. It is an R&B genre track with a two-step garage rhythm, a UK garage subgenre.

Baby DONT Cry attempts a fresh transformation through this new song. They plan to display another charm they have not shown in their existing activities.

In particular, hit makers have come together for the new single. PSY, head of P Nation, lent his support. Singer Crush and lyricist Seo Ji-eum also participated.

<Baby DONT Cry Q&A>

Q. It has been eight months since the pre-release track "Shapeshifter" and title track "Bittersweet" from your first mini album 'AFTER CRY' in March this year. How do you feel about your comeback?

▷ Yihyun: The eight months felt long, but it's nice to be back after preparing so hard for this comeback. Especially since I think we'll be able to show a different side of us compared to our previous songs, I have high expectations, and I hope "Replay" reaches many people as good music.

Q. How did you spend the eight months?

▷ Kumi: We practiced hard with the members and prepared to show a new side of ourselves. I really missed performing on stage while we were waiting. Through this comeback, I want to show you how much we've grown.

Q. Please introduce what kind of song the new track "Replay" is.

▷ Mia: It's a song that expresses memories and emotions that keep coming to mind even when you try to forget them. I hope our matured visuals and addictive melody keep 'replay'-ing in your heads.

Q. According to the credits, your agency head PSY took on the role of overall producer, and senior artist Crush participated in writing and composing. How do you feel about this?

▷ Yihyun: I've always learned a lot while listening to Representative PSY and senior Crush's music, and it's truly an honor and I'm grateful that they worked with us directly like this. Since they made good music for us, I feel even greater responsibility to do well.

Q. What requests or advice did overall producer PSY give while preparing for your comeback?

▷ Beni: Since this R&B genre track is the first style we're attempting since our debut, he said he hopes we understand this genre better and practice hard to show a great performance.

Q. The music video is also interesting. Is there an unforgettable memory or episode from filming?

▷ Mia: We filmed dancing with dancers in a very beautiful hall, and it felt like we were in a dream, so I was happy. Receiving the dancers' energy made the original upbeat outro even more filled with happiness, and I loved it.

Q. What aspects of the new track "Replay" and music video would you like fans to focus on when enjoying it?

▷ Beni: For the music video, I hope you pay attention to the overall direction that brings out the vibe of the song, the choreography, and the hidden details in each scene. I think it's a song where you can discover new charms the more you watch and listen to it, so I'd like fans to interpret and enjoy it in their own way.

Q. This song is being pre-released in Japan ahead of your Japanese debut mini album release on January 20 next year. This is a signal for your Japanese launch, so what are your thoughts and determination about your Japanese debut?

▷ Yihyun: The biggest feeling ahead of my Japanese debut is excitement, and above all, I'm looking forward to being able to see Japanese fans up close. Through our Japanese debut, we will work hard to introduce our music and charm to more fans.

▷ Mia: I'm so happy that another dream of mine, a Japanese debut, is coming true! I'm so excited and happy thinking that we can become closer to Japanese Cherries (official fandom name) through the songs and stages we release from now on. We will do our best to convey the energy of all four of us to many people in Japan as well!

Q. What charm of Baby DONT Cry would you like to appeal to Japanese fans? And what aspects of Baby DONT Cry do you think will be loved in Japan?

▷ Beni: We want to show Japanese fans Baby DONT Cry's bright and confident energy. I think our biggest charm is showing intense performances on stage and being honest and lovely off stage, so I think this contrasting charm and our natural chemistry will receive a lot of love in Japan as well.

Q. A word to the Cherries who have waited for your comeback and have sent unwavering support and encouragement.

▷ Kumi: Cherries! Thank you for waiting so long! Thanks to the Cherries, I think we were able to prepare with more strength. Let's make many happy memories together during these promotions too. Thank you always and I love you so much. I can't wait to see you soon!
