[Dispatch=Lee Myung-ju Reporter] Actor Kim Jae-won has achieved a successful film debut. His first leading role in 'Final Interview' (directed by Kim Jung-hoon) has gotten off to a smooth start.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated movie ticket sales system, 'Final Interview' topped the box office on its opening day, November 4th, attracting 26,700 viewers.
This is the first time a Korean film has held the box office top spot in 22 days. 'Assassin(s)' had ceded the number one position to foreign films including Japanese animation last month.
It appears the film will continue its box office momentum for the time being. 'Final Interview' recorded 95% on the CGV Golden Egg Index, which reflects actual audience ratings (as of 10 a.m. on the 5th).
The film tells the story of six job applicants gathered at a final interview who discover mysterious envelopes containing each other's confessions, leading them to suspect one another and fall into confusion.
The film is an adaptation of a novel by Japanese author Asakura Akimari. Choi Ji-hyun, Kim Jae-won, Shin Seung-ho, Kang Yu-seok, Kwak Dong-yeon, and Bae Kang-hee took on the leading roles.
Meanwhile, 'Heart of Beast' took second place with 17,230 viewers. 'Theater Version Chiikawa: Secret of Mermaid Island' drew 14,560 viewers, taking third place.
