[Dispatch=Lee A-Jin] tvN's new Monday-Tuesday drama "Second Signal" (written by Kim Eun-hee, directed by Ahn Tae-jin) has decided to air following the postponement of its broadcast schedule.
tvN stated on the 6th, "We are taking seriously the concerns and opinions from viewers," and "After careful deliberation, we have decided to release 'Second Signal' on the 7th of next month."
"Second Signal" finished filming in August of last year. However, through a Dispatch report last December, it became known that lead actor Cho Jin-woong had a juvenile delinquency record in the past. Following this, the broadcast schedule was indefinitely postponed.
The production team also reviewed ways to edit out the scenes featuring Cho Jin-woong. They even conducted tests to replace the character using AI. However, they decided not to apply it due to limitations in naturally implementing the acting and narrative flow.
tvN stated, "The wrongful past actions of a specific cast member cannot be viewed lightly under any circumstances," while explaining, "We believed we also needed to consider the time and effort of numerous staff and production crew."
They continued, "The release of this work is certainly not intended to condone or justify the issues of the cast member," and added, "We will meaningfully convey the story and significance of the work itself while not forgetting our responsibility as a channel."
Meanwhile, "Second Signal" will premiere on the 7th of next month at 10 p.m. On that day, the first episode's length will be partially shortened, with episodes 1 and 2 airing consecutively.
